What Happens After You Apply to FLORA
First of all, if you’ve just hit submit on your FLORA application, congratulations! You just gave yourself the power (and ease) to live life on your own terms and timeline. Your application is being reviewed by our team.
If you got here because you want as much information as possible before applying, that's worth celebrating, too. We encourage every woman to learn as much as she can about fertility, and knowing how to insure your fertility is part of that.
The process right after you apply is called underwriting, and here's exactly what it means and how it works.
Wait, what even is underwriting?
Underwriting is how FLORA determines whether we can offer you coverage, and on what terms. Every insurance company does a version of this, what varies is what they look at and how clearly they explain it.
Think of it as a matching exercise: we're working out whether our product is the right fit for where you are right now, and making sure that when you need to use your coverage, it holds.
What does FLORA actually look at?
Your age: FLORA is designed for women between 20 and 34 – the window where proactive fertility coverage makes the most financial and medical sense. If you're approved, that coverage stays with you until you're 44.
Your fertility health history: FLORA is built for women getting ahead of a potential need but underlying conditions may still qualify – so complete, honest answers give us the clearest picture to make sure everyone gets a fair response.
Lifestyle factors: These may feel like personal questions, but they help to assess your application.
This is how we get a fair picture of what we can offer you.
So... what happens next?
Three paths from here:
Approved: You'll receive your quote and can choose to bind your coverage immediately – binding simply means officially activating your policy. That's when your one year wait period starts.
We need more information: Someone from our team will reach out directly to make sure we have everything we need to move forward.
We're not able to offer coverage right now: We'll tell you clearly, and make sure you’re not left without support or resources. We're also a startup – which means we're constantly growing, listening to feedback, and working to expand who we can cover. A no right now is genuinely not a no forever. We hear you, and we're working on it.
Why is this process necessary?
Coverage that works when you need it starts with underwriting that's honest. FLORA exists for women who want a plan in place well before they need it and careful review is what makes that plan worth having.
You applied because you were thinking ahead, we're reviewing for the same reason.
No matter the outcome, applying means you took a step most women are never encouraged to take early enough: understanding and protecting your fertility health before urgency enters the conversation – and there's a version of you, a few years from now, who will be glad you did this today.
We built FLORA because planning ahead should feel empowering, not overwhelming and every part of this process is designed to give you clarity, transparency, and support along the way.
Whatever comes next, we are here for you.
