What's an Egg Shower?

What's an Egg Shower?

Picture a baby shower – but instead of celebrating a bump, the guest of honor just scheduled her egg retrieval.

Same friends, same prosecco, maybe a cake with a little ovary on it. That's an egg shower, and it's been quietly making the rounds.

Reactions have been mixed about this phenomenon, some find it brilliant, some find it uncomfortable, and some aren't quite sure what to do with a party that's built around something this medical.

We're in the brilliant camp.

The egg shower's significance is about what the act of freezing your eggs has been turned into: a moment worth marking, worth celebrating with people who love you, worth talking about out loud.

For a topic that has historically lived in hushed conversations and sterile waiting rooms, that's a real shift and the numbers back it up. Over 39,000 women froze their eggs in the US in 2023, a 39% jump from the year before, with the under-35 segment growing fastest and the global market hitting $5.51 billion in 2025

The culture is finally catching up to what the data has been saying for a while.

And the part that makes it actually brilliant is the conversation that starts inside that room. At one of these parties someone asks what AMH is, someone else admits they've never thought about their ovarian reserve, someone might even say they are facing fertility treatment – and a conversation starts over drinks with friends.

The egg shower, at its best, is a Trojan horse for a much bigger cultural move: normalizing fertility conversations because we can, and thinking about fertility before you have to.

That shift from reactive to proactive is one of the most useful things happening in women's health right now. And if you're going to freeze them, or are thinking about it, you might as well be covered with FLORA for when you use them.

The egg shower made fertility a party and we think that's kind of the point 💃🏻
